On Wednesday 11th March, eighty of our Year 9 students were
privileged to take part in an event titled Animal Extravaganza as
This was an opportunity for students to interact with animals of the Rain
Forest, Dessert and Woodlands, whilst understanding how they are
specially adapted to survive in their natural environments. All animals
present on the day, had been rescued. Animals included; Snakes of
various sizes, Owls, Tarantulas, Hedgehog, Albino Skunk and the star
of the show a six month old Meerkat. By encouraging the student’s
natural curiosity, the secrets of their environments were revealed.
During the previous week the Science Department
hosted a gifted andtalented workshop entitled
Target Mars. Students had to prepare to land and
explore the surface of Mars in order to prepare
The workshop involved six students from HHTC
and also studentsfrom five other schools in the
Boston area. These schools were Boston High
School, the Giles School, Middlecott School from
Kirton,St. Bedes and Thomas Cowley High School
from Donington. The teams of students represented
different nations in a multinational company.
Europe. Our students were Jessica Earth, Rhianna
Francis, Catia Garcia, Harry Hextell, Patryk Majewski
The students took part in such activities as
microchemistry, electronics, detection of bombs
and producing a landing craft that would not kill of
HHTC came second overall to Boston High School.
